ExxonMobil PNG boosts Civil Society Organization operations with laptops

ExxonMobil PNG has donated five refurbished laptops to the Papua New Guinea Resource Governance Coalition (PNGRGC) to strengthen research, policy advocacy and civil society oversight of extractive industries nationwide.

The equipment support builds on ExxonMobil PNG’s 2025 assistance, which provided grant funding to enhance PNGRGC’s public visibility.

That initial phase enabled the launch of the Coalition’s official website, the production of organizational branding materials, and the publication of educational infographics to make complex resource governance data accessible to local communities, civil society and policymakers.

Moving into 2026, the partnership has progressed from elevating the Coalition’s visibility to directly building its operational capability.

The newly donated laptops will equip PNGRGC’s secretariat and technical staff to expand research outputs, formulate evidence-based policy submissions and sustain informed public dialogue on Papua New Guinea’s extractive sectors.

Accepting the donation, Ms. Yvonne Ngutlick, Deputy Director Communications at Transparency International PNG (TIPNG) and President of the PNGRGC Council, expressed appreciation for the continued support.

“ExxonMobil PNG’s generous donation provides the direct operational backing PNGRGC needs. By strengthening our digital infrastructure, this partnership ensures civil society has the resources to accelerate our research, sharpen our data analysis, and elevate our national advocacy.

“Strategic partnerships like this ensure civil society is fully resourced to hold the line on transparency and drive meaningful resource governance reforms across Papua New Guinea.”

By strengthening both public reach and administrative capacity, the support from ExxonMobil PNG highlights the value of cross-sector partnerships in ensuring revenues generated from natural resources-including taxes, royalties and equity-are tracked openly and accountably.
