Kotex has marked its fifth consecutive annual visit to the University of Papua New Guinea by distributing 1,000 sanitary packs to female students during a menstrual health outreach at Forum Square.
The global personal care brand set up distribution points on campus last week, where hundreds of students queued to receive the packs as part of Kotex’s ongoing commitment to improving menstrual health awareness and access among young women in higher education.
Kotex Marketing Manager Meta-Lynne Murphy said the company intended to continue the programme at UPNG every year.
Marketing Manager Murphy confirmed the program will remain an annual fixture at UPNG.
“This is our fifth year at the University of Papua New Guinea, and it will continue every year,” Murphy said.
“We chose UPNG because it brings together young women from every province and diverse backgrounds.”
“It is a place where we can reach a wide cross-section of students in one setting and have a meaningful impact.”
According to Kotex, the one thousand packs distributed include sanitary products and educational materials on menstrual hygiene.
Brand representatives were also on site to answer questions and provide information on product use and health.
University officials welcomed the initiative, noting that access to menstrual products remains a barrier for many students.
Kotex first launched the UPNG outreach in 2022.
With the distribution, the company has now provided several thousand packs to the university community over the past four years.
Murphy said future visits will maintain the same scale and focus, with plans to expand educational sessions alongside product distribution in coming years.
