AMERICAN PROFESSOR TO HEAD ENGA UNIVERSITY

American Professor Brian Davis will become the President of the new Innovative University of Enga (IUE).

Professor Davis and his spouse Nadezhda Kareyava arrived in Port Moresby this afternoon to begin his tenure as the first expatriate and permanent President of IUE.

Enga Provincial MP Sir Peter Ipatas, a key figure in establishing the university, officially welcomed Professor Davis and his wife on behalf of the Enga Provincial Government and the people of Enga. IUE Chairlady Anna Bais, alongside Provincial Administrator Sandis Tsaka, Dr. Thomas Webstar, Peter Mission Yaki, and Michael Kambao, joined the welcome ceremony. The new president will travel to Enga Province over the weekend.

Among the dignitaries present was Kandep Open MP Don Pomb Polye, who witnessed what many see as a milestone moment for the university and the future of education in Enga.

IUE, which began its academic operations last year, has seen leadership transitions, with Dr. Ben Imbun serving as acting president, followed by Dr. Stanis Malangen. Most recently, Caretaker President Kawa Neuendorf and Assistant Caretaker President Wilfred Fafen ensured a smooth start to the 2025 academic year.

With Professor Davis officially assuming office next week, the university enters a new era of leadership and academic excellence.
