TONDE CALLS FOR UNITY AND PEACE AMIDST ENGA- GOILALA CLASH

A leader from Moresby North-West, today made a strong call for peace in Port Moresby.
Rainbow-based businessman, Joe Tonde is asking leaders to stop the violence spreading in the city.
Mr. Tonde wants Central Governor Rufina Peter, Goilala MP Casmiro Aia, and Moresby Northwest MP Lohia Boe Samuel to work with NCD Governor Powes Parkop.
He says they must act now to stop the fighting.
The recent violence started over K2. A boy from Engan was asked for money by some Goilala men. This led to a fight. Four people died. A market was burned. More violence followed.
Tonde asked both Engan and Goilala people to stop fighting. He said leaders must do their jobs to help their people. He blamed the violence on the lack of proper housing and services.
Tonde reminded that Central Province has free land. He said this land should be used to help the people.
He has cared for Goilala people since 2016. They live near his area. He has helped them with food, clothes, and even built a church. Now, he wants to give them land for permanent homes.
Tonde said people must stop supporting criminals. He believes the violence can end if leaders and people listen to his message.
With PNG’s 50th anniversary coming soon, Tonde asked everyone to change and prepare for a peaceful celebration.
He said this is the time for leaders to work together and make the capital city peaceful again.
