BNG Trading’s PNG Protein Park (PX3) and the National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) have partnered at Sogeri to distribute six sheeps to regional research centres, strengthening high-altitude and lowland livestock breeding across the country.
The site visits early this month involved a three-member NARI delegation led by Deputy Director General Dr Peter Aglua Gendua, including Ku Kobila and Gurugun Kepa, accompanied by Ralph Yamb, Regional Livestock Adviser from the Department of Agriculture and Livestock (DAL).

The delegation inspected the six sheeps before approving their allocation to regional research hubs to support livestock research and smallholder farming development.
The company said in a statement that under the allocation plan, two will go to Laloki in Central Province for lowland livestock research and smallholder integration.
The remaining four were designated for the Highlands Region, with the animals transported by sea freight through Lae, Morobe Province, and two continuing to Tambul in Western Highlands Province to support high-altitude breeding programmes.
The partnership between BNG Trading’s PNG Protein Park (PX3) and NARI aims to improve animal genetics, promote sustainable livestock management and strengthen Papua New Guinea’s long-term food security.
Meanwhile, under the downstream processing agenda of the government, the park is planning to butcher sheeps into lamb flaps from its Sogeri farm for local consumption.
Their abattoir is located at Gerehu Industrial area in Port Moresby.
